With the recent amendments to the Public Procurement Law which came into force on June 29, 2016, legal services are exempted from the obligation to implement public procurement procedures.

The need for this change, as explained by the Government, comes from the difficulties occurred in applying the procurement of these services in practice because they are charged by the official legal tariff. Also, among the reasons, the Government stated that the procurement of these services is exempted from conducting a tender in the new EU directives on public procurement.
