Romania should return EU 700 million euros due to violations in public procurement

Romania is obligated to return almost 700 million euros to the European Union due to errors in the distribution of funds received from the European Commission according to the Minister for European Funds in Romania, Eugen Teodorovich speaking to journalists on Monday regarding the results of an audit conducted by the European Commission.

As media reports, according to him, most of the violations were related to the allocation of funds for public procurement. He added that the penalties have been imposed on all operational programs of the EU in Romania. According to data, which was published in the past year, Romania has one of the highest levels of fraud when it comes to EU development funds being allocated by Brussels.
